Tips For Driving In Heavy Rain

Drive in the rainy weather condition. This is the most common situation faced by drivers. Driving in the rain especially hard rain could be very dangerous if we don't be careful. Many accidents can happen if we drive in this weather situation. Some human error could cause catastrophic accident and so does some mechanical problem. Make sure everything is in the best condition when you have to drive in rainy weather condition. Here are some basic tips for driving in rainy weather condition.

Do Not Speeding
Just drive smoothly and slow your vehicle down. The rain will make the road wet and slippery. These conditions will make you harder to stop immediately so you better be slowing down.

Keep Distance From Another Vehicle
Maintain and keep distance from vehicle in front of you is on of the most important thing to be done. Maintain at least 3 seconds distance from the vehicle in front of you.

Follow Car Tracks in front of You and Avoid Getting Too Close with Trucks
Follow the track of the vehicle in front of you car and always keep your distance from trucks or any other large vehicle cause their large tires can create massive water spray which will reduce your vision. Take very careful if you have to passing a trucks or other large vehicle and do it fast, smoothly and safely.

Stay In The Middle of Lanes
When it rains. Water tends to pool and gather in the lane's edge so make sure you stay in the middle of lanes.

Avoid Off Road
It is hard to guess the depth of the water puddle so make sure you stay on road and not having some silly off road adventure.

Avoid Using The Brake
You should slow your speed down and get your feet out of acceleration pedal instead of using your brake pedal.

Turn Your Light and Watch Others Light
Turn your headlights on. They will help you see the road and also help others see your car. Watch carefully for the brake light of the car in front of you.

Never Drive Beyond The Limits
Judge yourself about your visibility limit and never drive beyond your visibility limit. Avoid te road where you can not see the ground. Never drive in in the moving water because there's a risk your car will be swept off.

Stay Out If It Is Possible
Just pull out and stay off the road then park your car inside a building if you can. Avoid the rain if you can is the best prevention step.

Preventing Driving Sickness For your Kid

Driving sickness also called travel sickness but usually called motion sickness. This motion sickness is basically caused by conflict between eye and ear. When we are on the moving car, our ear detects if the car is moving while or eye just stay focused in the car and don’t feel the car movement. The ear and eye different detection will cause a conflict for our brain. This conflict will become a nausea result and make us feel sick. The children are usually feeling this sickness first and we better sped some time to cure it before the start vomiting. We can prevent this sickness to be happened by some tips :

Ask Our Children to Loot at The Far.

Ask them to focus at distant object outside the car. Encourage them to play some game which make them look at the distant (e.g : Let’s spy game). Bring some music they like to make them feel comfortable so they still can listen to the music while they look at outside the car. Do not let them do some activities which make them stay focused onside the car such as reading and play video games.

Avoid Rear and Backward Seat for the Children

If your car has some rear or backward seats then do not ask your children to seat on them. Facing rear or back could cause the children feel the sickness faster. You should avoid them.

Settle Our Children Stomach

Full stomach will also cause our children get the sickness faster. Just try to settle their stomach first before you start your journey. An empty stomach is not recommended for avoiding motion sickness. Give your children some easy to digest food and avoid for give them some greasy hard to digest food.

Smooth Driving

You have to try to drive smoothly. Less braking and swaying are better for you children and do not speeding. Try to have some smoothing suspensions on your car. Smoothing suspension also can prevent motion sickness for your children.

Stops and Rest Often for Having Fresh Air

Make some stop or rest planning on your trip and let your children for having some fresh air. Do not smoke inside the car and also do not bring some food with strong smelling. Smoke and strong smelling food will trigger motion sickness for your children.

Prepare and Be Responsive.

Watch your children carefully and listen to them. If they start to get pale or feeling dizzy then stop the car if you can. Stop and then rest for a while, wait for your children to feeling better.

Motion Sickness Drugs
For me personally the motion sickness drugs are the last option. Try to have some discussion with your doctor before you give it to your children.

Family Safety For Long Distance Driving Trip

I was looking for some fun safety driving education material for my family when I came to this Red Cross Homepage. I found some interesting Family Safety Planning Guide with fun and attractive way. Although this is not what I looked for but I think it is so nice and good to be converted as Family Safety For Long Distance Driving Trip. When you and your lovely family go for long distance driving, there are several thing to be prepared. I have already discussed about Long Distance Driving Preparation in my previous post. In this post I'd like to discuss about things we should do for our family especially for our children. Here they are :

Family Meeting

This is the first thing to do. Gather all of your family around and start talking about your family trip. Start with where you going to go (I assume this was a family holiday to a far and beautiful place). Talk to your kids especially about the trip and make them understand about the importance of trip safety.

First Aid Kit, Emergency Equipment, Fire Extinguisher and Communication Tool

Tell your family where they can find those safety tool and equipment on your car so every member of your family should know how to find it.

Planning Route.

Open your map and tell your family about it. Your children might not understand it if they still under 5 years, but at least we can start to educate them about the importance to plan your trip.

Check Point

Tell your family about the place you are going to stop for eating, resting and fuel refilling. Teach them to always check family member one another so nobody left behind.

Emergency Number

Make a list for emergency number in case you have some problem or accident such as police, hospital, fire department and car service. Hopefully this will never happen but we still better be prepared.

Family Number

Make list of every family member number who’s coming in the trip if there’s any. Also make a list for other family who’s not coming such as uncle, aunty, grandpa and grandma in case something happen.

Children

Make sure you have brought everything they need on the road. Since this is a long distance trip, just bring your children’s favorite food, drink or toy. Bring some pillow and blanket in case they need some sleep. It would be better if you pack your children’s stuff and ask them to carry it by themselves if it is possible. I guess it could teach them about responsibility,

It is fun to do your car maintenance by yourself. Absolutely you can safe your money by doing car maintenance and repair, beside that it is fun for personally taking care of your car. Although it fun but you still have to be careful when you decide to make it your own. Just realize if it is dirty activity and also dangerous work especially if you are not careful. These basic safety tips are for helping you to avoid some danger when you doing your car maintenance by yourself so you don't get an hurt or accident.

Know your own ability and knowledge

Know your own ability and knowledge about cars, engines, electronic components and other car accessories. Do not push yourself too hard. Do not try to repair something you don't know. Just find some professional and let them do it for you especially if you are not sure about what you do. It will be better if you give your car to the right hand than you make more mistakes. The whole car system is very complex and could very confusing if you don't know exactly about it. Some maintenance processes will require certain ability and skill for sure and this will be a car technician responsibility. Beside that, you might need some special tool and equipment which you don't have it. Modern car are equipped with complex and sensitive electronic components which will be ruined if you don't know exactly about it. Just let your professional or your auto technician do it for you.

Know Your Physical Condition and Limitation

Some car maintenance and repair will also require a physical activities such as some heavy lifting for car spare part replacement. When you come to this matter, you should know you physical limitation. Let say you need to replace some of our engine component or maybe replacing tires and open some of your car body. You might need to crawling under your car and working in lay down position. Not to mention about twisting, bending, pulling, tugging and jerking or maybe reaching some equipment while you lay down under your car. Just be really careful and use your body sense especially when you get tired, stop whatever you do and get rest. For you who have some physical illness just like bad back or joint problem then just quit your repair work if you start to feel your illness. Try to find someone to do some hard work for you while you still supervise him is the best option.

Never Underestimate Problems
Do not underestimate anything related to your maintenance and repair. A single small problem could turn into a big problem if you underestimate it. This is not only little problem for your car but also for yourself. A minor maintenance problem should be handled carefully by yourself while a bigger problem should handled by professional if you can not handle it. As for yourself, when you feel tired or have an headache then stop doing everything. Just keep in mind if your little carelessly can turn into a massive disaster. Some Basic Car Theft Preventing

Everybody does not want their car being stolen by a thief. So if you don’t want to loose your car, you need to be careful for taking care of your car. I am not a security expert or anti theft expert. I just want to share you some simple thing to prevent your car being stolen. Here they are, Some Simple Things To Prevent Car Theft :

Put some extra security device on your car. It can be some theft alarm or extra padlock for the wheel steer, brake or column.
Do not leave your car unattended even if you are in a hurry situation.
Do not leave your car key inside your car when you park your car.
Do not leave any valuable things inside your car especially in a plain view of your car windows.
If you have to leave some valuable things then put it on the trunk and do not forget to locked your car trunk
Do not leave your personal and car documents such as ID card, driving license, car ownership document, credit cards or any other important document inside your car.
Do not forget to lock your car door and roll up the windows anytime you leave your car.
Always try to park in secure place with high-traffic and well-lighted area.
If you have to leave your car with some valet or mechanic then leave only the ignition key and make sure you are choose a reputable firm.
Use your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) if you have to go to high theft areas. This VIN will make the theft to market your car if they stole it.
Always check the latest security system from your car vendor and upgrade them as soon as you can.

Long Distance Driving Preparation

I use this "Long Distance Driving" term for some trip with your lovely car for over than 300 kilometers or some trip which take more than a days to accomplish. This situation happen most for someone who enjoy for watching over beautiful nature scene while driving. Long distance driving can be very full of risk if you don't prepare it well. Okay here they are some basic things to prepare before you go for long distance driving :

Check the Condition of Your Car
Do some routine check for your engine and brake. Also don’t be hesitant to check other things such as tires, windshield and lamp. If you think there’s something wrong with your car and you can’t handle it, just bring your car to the mechanic. Do some check of the engine oil, brake fluid and water radiator. If you think your car is too dirty, maybe you need to wash it too. For me personally, I don't want to look so dirty in my trip.

Make List for Important Things to Bring
Make sure you have carried some basic emergency things in your car before you start your Long Distance Driving such as First Aid Kit, Tool Set, and Communication Tool. It will be safer for you to bring some crucial spare part and fuel for your car. You might consider for bringing some food and drinking just in case you feel thirsty or hungry. Just Remember if anything can happen in Long Distance Driving. So you better be prepared well. Just bring whatever you might need as long as your car doesn’t carry excess weight.

Plan Your Trip Route Well
Prepare your map for your Long Distance Driving. Look at your map and try to make some route to your destination. Prepare more than one route because things don’t exactly run as we planned. After you decide two or more of your trip route, don’t forget to plan where you want to rest and refueling. It will be better if you have a GPS device which can help you the information about rest area, food court and fuel depot. If you do have a GPS device, just try to track your trip and don't forget to mark some important place. It can be very useful in the future.

Money, Documents and Licenses
Just don’t forget to bring some money. You don’t want to stuck in the middle of nowhere without money, do you? Also don’t forget to bring your important license and document such as driving license, vehicle license and especially your ID Card. It would be better if you used to prepare a note to write some little thing which usually miss.

If you think there still some other things useful, you can add it to the list. Thins useful things can be some personal medicine, some children equipments or anything else that can be very useful in your trip. For a Very Long Distance Driving, It would be better if you bring a person who can replace you to drive especially if you feel tired or sleepy. The Honda Insight is a hybrid electric vehicle manufactured by Honda in its first generation as a three-door hatchback from model years 2000 to 2006. The original Insight employed hybrid electric engine technology, optimized aerodynamics and a lightweight aluminum structure to maximize fuel efficiency and minimize emissions. The Insight was introduced in 1999, two years after the Toyota Prius.

The Honda Insight was a subcompact hatchback 3,945 mm (155.3 in) in length with a wheelbase of 2,400 mm (94.5 in) a height of 1,355 mm (53.3 in) and a width of 1,695 mm (66.7 in). The Insight was only available as a two-seater. Only three different trims were available: a manual transmission without air-conditioning, a manual transmission with air-conditioning, and a continuously variable transmission with air-conditioning. Although produced until 2006, the only major change was the introduction of a trunk mounted, front controlled, multiple CD changer.

The gasoline engine is a 70 hp (52 kW/71 PS), 1-liter, 3-cylinder unit providing lean burn operation with an air fuel ratio that can reach 25.8 to 1 [1]. The electrical motor assist adds in another 10 kW (13 hp) when called on, and similarly provides significant deceleration when used in regenerative mode for braking. (This both improves fuel efficiency and also dramatically extends the lifetime of brakes). When the car is not moving, for example, at a stop light, the engine shuts off.

The Toyota Prius is a Hybrid Electric Mid-Size Car developed and manufactured by the Toyota Motor Corporation. The Prius first went on sale in Japan in 1997, making it the first mass-produced hybrid vehicle. It was subsequently introduced worldwide in 2001. The Prius is sold in more than 40 countries and regions, with its largest markets being those of Japan and North America. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the 2008 Prius is the most fuel efficient car sold in the U.S. The UK Department for Transport also reported the Prius is tied as the third least CO2-emitting vehicle on sale in the UK.

The Toyota Prius have released 3 model over 1997 to 2008. Those 3 models are NHW10, NHW11 and the latest NHW20.

The Toyota Prius - NHW10 Model

The first Prius, model NHW10, went on sale in December 1997. It was sold only in Japan, though it has been imported privately to the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand. Many of these cars are now being exported as second-hand vehicles to New Zealand and other countries.

The Toyota Prius - NHW11 Model

The 2001–2003 Prius for the United States market was powered by a 1.5-liter 4 cylinder gasoline engine, a permanent magnet AC electric motor, and a 274-volt nickel-metal hydride (Ni-MH) battery pack. In the United States, the NHW11 was the first Prius to be sold. The Prius was marketed between the smaller Echo and the larger Corolla.

The Toyota Prius - NHW20 Model

The Prius was completely redesigned into a mid-size liftback which is between the Corolla and the Camry in size. The new model is 6 inches (150 mm) longer than the previous version which has more aerodynamic body resulted. The new Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) uses an all-electric compressor for cooling. Combined with a smaller and lighter NiMH battery, the NHW20 is more powerful and more efficient than the NHW11.

A hybrid car or hybrid electric vehicle is a hybrid vehicle which combines a conventional propulsion system with a rechargeable energy storage system. Some Hybrid car also can use the internal combustion engine to generate electricity by spinning an electrical motor generator to either recharge the battery or directly feed power to an electric motor that drives the vehicle.

Many Hybrid Car reduce idle emissions by shutting down the internal combustion engine at idle and restarting it when needed as a "start-stop system". Hybrid Car engine is smaller than a non-hybrid petroleum fuel vehicle and may be run at various speeds, providing more efficiency.

Hybrid Car became widely available to the public in the late 1990s with the introduction of the Honda Insight and Toyota Prius. HEVs are viewed by some automakers as a core segment of the future automotive market. Futurist magazine recently included hybrid electric vehicles as cars of the near future.

Use mass transportation. Well this maybe better solution than the first two. By taking mass transportation such as busses or trains we can save some our money we use for oil fuel. But off course not everyone likes to go with busses or trains.

It also can be done right now and you will surprise with the result. This is also the cheapest way to do without any necessary buy anything new and really stop wasting your money.

I'm really sure if nobody want to have a car accident. When you do have a car accident, what do you think you can do??

Well maybe these things below are the most basic tips (in case) you really had a car accident.

1. Always prepare for the worst. Make sure you have carried your emergency kit and first aid on your car as well as some notes or pocket camera for documentation of your accident.
2. Make sure your communication tool such as cellphone work well when you start to drive. Better be prepared for the worst such as carry some emergency flares or whistler.
3. Prepare some emergency phone number such as hospital,If you do have an accident, you better be stoped and don't keep drive your car because it can be considered as hit and run.
4. After you hit someone's car or being hit by someone's car, if you still awake anf your car still can move then you should move your car into safe area before you do anything else.
5. Move another people who get involved in accident to safe area and check if any of them getting injured.
6. Use you emergency tool and first aid kit to help other then use your communication tool to call for help.
7. Call the authorities such as police department and always tell them the truth about the accident. Just follow the procedure and instuction given by the police officer and make sure to write down the police officer's name.
8. Do not agree to pay for damages or sign any paper except a traffic ticket until you check with your insurance company or lawyer.
9. Take some documentary if you can do that. Take some picture of the accident, cars damage, place of accident and any other picture that you can use to claim your car insurance. Keep watching the traffict while you take some picture for documentary.
10. Gather as many information as possible related with name, address, phone number, insurance company, policy number, driver license number and license plate number for the driver and the owner of each vehicle. Try to get some witness information if there's any.
11. Call your insurance company immediately after the accident and don't forget to send them a written notice as soon as possible. The notice should include the time, place and circumstances of the accident.
12. If you or your family get hurt, Call an attorney who is experienced in accident cases . Ask them all the question related to the car accident.

The Chevrolet Camaro is a classic car made in North America by the Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors. It was introduced on 26 September 1966 as a 1967 model year and was designed as a competing model to the Ford Mustang. The car shared the platform and major components with the Pontiac Firebird, also introduced in 1967. Four distinct generations of the car were produced before production ended in 2002. A new fifth-generation Camaro will roll off assembly lines in spring of 2009.

The first-generation Chevrolet Camaro debuted in September 1966, for the 1967 model year, up to 1969 on a brand new rear-wheel drive GM F-body platform and would be available as a 2-door, 2+2 seating, coupe or convertible with a choice of inline-6 and 302 CID (4.9 L), 307 CID (5.0 L), 327 CID (5.4 L), 350 CID (5.7 L), or 396 CID (6.5 L) V8 powerplants.

Introduced in February 1970, the second-generation Chevrolet Camaro would be in production for a total of 11 years. The car grew somewhat larger and wider with the new styling, thus resulting in a heavier car. Still based on the F-body platform, the new Camaro was engineered much like its predecessor in that it still used a unibody structure with a front subframe, leaf springs in the back and A-arms up front for suspension

The third-generation Chevrolet Camaro was introduced for the 1982 model year. It continued to use General Motors' F-body platform and would produce a "20th Anniversary Commemorative Edition" for 1987 and a "25th Anniversary Heritage Edition" for 1992. These were also the first Camaros with throttle body fuel injection, Turbo-Hydramatic 700R4 four-speed automatic transmissions, five-speed manual transmissions, 15 inch or 16-inch wheels, hatchback bodies, and a rear window third brake light.

The fourth-generation Chevrolet Camaro debuted for the 1993 model year on an updated F-body platform. It would retain the same characteristics since the first-generation's introduction back in 1967; 2-doors, 2+2 seating, available as a coupé (with optional T-top roof) or convertible (with the latter introduced in 1994), rear-wheel drive, and a choice of V6 and V8 powerplants. Options included the 3.4 L (207 CID) 160 hp (119 kW) V6 (changed to 3.8 L (232 CID) 200 hp (149 kW) V6 in mid-1995) and the LT1 V8 engine (350 CID) 5.7 L V8 with 275hp (flywheel rated) that had been introduced in the Corvette one year earlier, as well as an optional six-speed manual transmission.

Based on the 2006 Camaro Concept and 2007 Camaro Convertible Concept, production of the fifth-generation Camaro was approved on 5 August 2006. Oshawa Car Assembly will produce the new Camaro which will go on sale in spring of 2009 as a 2010 model year vehicle. The 2010 model is offered as a coupe only in LS, LT, and SS trim levels. The LS and LT trim levels will be powered by the LLT 3.6 L (≈220 in3) V6 producing 300 hp (220 kW).

Toyota Supra

The Toyota Supra was a sports car/grand tourer produced by Toyota Motor Company from 1979 to 2002. The styling of the Toyota Supra was derived from the Toyota Celica, but it was both longer and wider.[3] Starting in mid-1986, the Supra (in its third generation, MKIII) became its own model and was no longer based on the Celica. In turn, Toyota also stopped using the prefix Celica and began just calling the car Supra. Due to the similarity and past of the Toyota Celica's name, it is frequently mistaken for the Toyota Supra, and vice versa. The Supra also traces much of its roots back to the Toyota 2000GT with the main instance being its engine. The first three generations were offered with a direct descendant to the 2000GT's M engine. All four generations of Supra produced have an inline 6-cylinder engine.

Along with this name and car Toyota also included its own logo for the Supra. It is derived from the original Celica logo, being blue instead of orange. This logo was used until January 1986, when the MKIII Supra was introduced. The new logo was similar in size, with orange writing on a red background, but without the dragon design. That logo, in turn, was on Supras until the 1989 redesign when Toyota switched to its current oval company logo. Some of the most notable appearances include the Gran Turismo and Need for Speed series of video games and the 2001 film, The Fast and the Furious.

Mark I

The first generation Supra was based largely upon the Toyota Celica liftback, but was longer by 5.1 in (129.5 mm). The doors and rear section stayed the same length as Celica but rear panels differed. The most important change was the swap to an Inline-6 instead of the stock Celica's 4-cylinder engine. Toyota's original plan for the Supra at this time was to make it a competitor to the very popular Datsun (now Nissan) Z-car.

Mark II
In 1982, Toyota completely redesigned the Celica Supra as well as the entire Celica lineup. In Japan, they were known as Celica XX, but everywhere else the Celica Supra name stuck. Still being based around the Celica platform, there were several key differences, most notably the design of the front end and fully retractable pop-up headlights. Other differences would be the inline-6 still present in the Supra instead of the inline-4 as well as an increase in length and wheel base to conform with the overall larger engine. Toyota's continued market competition with Nissan is shown by the Supra's use of a rear hatch sun shade to avoid the louvers popularly associated with the Z car.

Mark III

In the middle of 1986, Toyota was ready to release its next version of the Supra. The official model year is designated as 1986.5. The bonds between the Celica and the Supra were cut; they were now two completely different models. The Celica changed to front wheel drive, while the Supra kept its rear wheel drive platform. Though the Mark II and Mark III had similar designs, the engine was updated to a more powerful 3.0 200 hp (150 kW) inline 6. Although only available in naturally aspirated trim in 1986.5, a turbocharged version of the engine was introduced in the 1987 model year. The Supra was now related mechanically to the Toyota Soarer for the Japanese market.

Mark IV

With the fourth generation of the Supra, Toyota took a big leap in the direction of a more powerful sports car. Production started in December 1992 with only 20 models, but started mass production in April 1993. The new Supra was completely redesigned, with rounded body styling and featured two new engines: a naturally aspirated 2JZ-GE producing 220 hp (164 kW) @5800 rpm and 210 lb·ft (285 N·m) @4800 rpm of torque and a twin turbocharged 2JZ-GTE making 280 ps (206 kW) and 318 ft·lbf (430 N·m) of torque for the Japanese version. For the export model (America/Europe) Toyota upgraded the Supra turbo's engine (larger turbochargers, bigger fuel injectors, etc.). This increased the power output to 320 hp (239 kW) @5600 rpm and 315 lb·ft (427 N·m) @4000 rpm.

Honda Racing F1 Team is a Formula One team run by Japanese car manufacturer Honda. The team is based in Brackley, United Kingdom, and uses the facilities of former British American Racing, which Honda fully acquired in 2005. The team began by using the same predominantly white livery that Honda used in the sport during the 1960s, but has since switched to a livery dubbed the "Earth Car", with minimal corporate advertising, and depicting the planet earth and space.

Honda surprised everyone by entering Formula One Grand Prix racing in 1963, just three years after producing their first road car. They began development of the RA271 in 1962 and startled the European-dominated Formula One garages with their all-Japanese factory team (except for American drivers Ronnie Bucknum and Richie Ginther). In only their second year of competition, Honda reached the coveted top step of the podium with Ginther's win in the RA272 at the 1965 Mexican Grand Prix.

For the new 3.0L rules from 1966, Honda introduced the Honda RA273. Although the RA273's engine was a well-designed, ~360bhp V12, the car was let down by a relatively heavy and unwieldy in-house chassis. Honda returned to the winner's circle in 1967 with the new Honda RA300, driven by John Surtees. This won the 1967 Italian Grand Prix in only its first F1 race. The RA300 chassis was partly designed by Lola in the UK, and this resulted in the car being nicknamed the Hondola by the motoring press. Unfortunately this was the last truly competitive car that Honda produced for F1 in the 1960s; the following year's Honda RA301 only reached the podium twice and Honda withdrew from F1 at the end of the 1969 Formula One season. Honda returned to Formula One in 1983 as an engine supplier for Spirit and stayed in the sport for a decade, at various times teaming with Lotus, McLaren, Tyrrell and Williams. From 1993 to 1998, Honda's only presence in F1 was as an engine supplier through its associates Mugen Motorsports, who supplied engines to Footwork, Lotus, Ligier, Prost and Jordan.

Despite showing promise pre-season (with the RA806 being considered one of the most powerful of the new V8 engines), Honda demonstrated fairly mediocre performance at the start of the 2006 season despite a pole position at Australia. Prior to their win at Hungary, they had only accumulated a single podium finish, a third place from Jenson Button at Malaysia. The main reason for lack of form (the team was expecting to challenge for the championship) has been down to reliability, with the team dropping out of contention for race victories many times.

With tobacco sponsorship in F1 now in full decline, 2007 also sees the end of British American Tobacco's sponsorship of Honda, allowing the team to choose a livery that reflects their corporate image. Unveiled on 26 February 2007, the RA107 car features the bare minimum of corporate advertising (advertising required by the FIA), instead focusing on Honda's environmental desires, with a livery depicting the planet Earth against the black background of space. On the rear wing is the web address of environmental awareness website http://myearthdream.com. This site was launched February 27, 2007, immediately after the official launch of the 2007 car. Reactions to the new Honda livery have been mixed, with Greenpeace accusing the team of being hypocritical, given how polluting F1 is.

On July 19, 2007, it was announced that Barrichello and Button will continue the factory effort as teammates into 2008. On November 12 2007, autosport.com confirmed that former Ferrari technical director Ross Brawn is to join Honda as team principal. Nick Fry will remain with the team as Chief Executive. On the 10th January 2008, it was announced that Alexander Wurz had signed as test driver for the 2008 Formula One Season.[5] On 29 January 2008, Honda launched their 2008 race car. The "Earth Car" has a slightly different livery from its 2007 counterpart, with only part of the car containing the earth picture, and the rest with Honda's classic white paint. Button, Barrichello and Wurz were present at the launch.

Ferrari F1 team also called Scuderia Ferrari is the name for the Gestione Sportiva, the division of the Ferrari automobile company concerned with racing. Though the Scuderia and Ferrari Corse Clienti continue to manage the racing activities of numerous Ferrari customers and private teams, Ferrari's racing division has completely devoted its attention and funding to its Formula One team, Scuderia Ferrari. Scuderia is Italian for "Stable", and Ferrari is the name of its founder. The prancing horse was the symbol on Italian World War I ace Francesco Baracca's fighter plane, and became the logo of Ferrari after the fallen ace's parents, good friends with Enzo Ferrari, asked him so, to continue his tradition of sportsmanship, gallantry and boldness.

Scuderia Ferrari was founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929 as a sponsor for amateur drivers in various races, though Ferrari himself had raced a bit in CMN and Alfa Romeo cars before that date. The idea came about on the night of November 16 at a dinner in Bologna, where Ferrari solicited financial help from Augusto and Alfredo Caniato, textile heirs, and wealthy amateur racer Mario Tadini. He then gathered a team which at its peak included over forty drivers, most of whom raced in various Alfa Romeo 8C cars; Enzo himself continued racing, with moderate success, until the birth of his first son Dino in 1932. The well-known prancing horse blazonfirst appeared in occasion of the 1932 Francorchamps 24-hours race on a two-car team of Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Spider, which finished first and second.

Ferrari first competed in F1 in 1948 (the team's first F1 car was the Tipo 125 F1), making it the oldest and arguably the most successful team left in the championship. The team's numerous and ardent Italian fans are known as tifosi, though the team also has a vibrant international following. The team's current drivers are Felipe Massa and Kimi Räikkönen, who has signed on to Ferrari for a three-year contract after the retirement of Michael Schumacher following the 2006 season, and its test drivers are Luca Badoer and Marc Gené. Ferrari and Räikkönen are the reigning Constructors' and Drivers' title holders respectively, after the conclusion of the 2007 season.

BMW Z4

The BMW Z4 is a rear-wheel drive sports car by the German automaker BMW, known as the E85 in roadster form and E86 in coupe form. Production started in 2002, and thus replaced the BMW Z3. The design addresses many criticisms of the Z3; the Z4 is larger, and has a significantly stiffer chassis. It is built in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Initially, the Z4 was available only as a roadsterThe Z4 was designed by Chris Bangle and began the controversy over his "flame surfacing" design and aggressive styling choices, which can also be seen on most modern BMW cars, most noticeably the 7 Series and 5 Series. As of 2007, the entire BMW car line, including the BMW 3 Series and X5 SAV, had incorporated Chris Bangle's design theme., but in 2006 a coupé version was officially launched.

The Rear-Wheel Drive Sports Car - BMW Z4

The Z4 features a strut type front suspension like its predecessor, the Z3. The rear suspension, however is considerably different from that of the Z3, which was based on that of the E30 BMW 3 Series. Instead of a semi-trailing arm suspension, the Z4 uses a more advanced multi-link suspension. The Z4 offered a choice of four straight-six engines: A 2.2 L, a 2.5 L, a 3.0 L, and a 3.2 L. All are variants of the BMW M54 engine. In the European market, a 2.0 L straight-4 is also offered. The 2.2 L, 120 kW (170 bhp) version can reach 100 km/h in 7.7 s, but is not sold in the United States. The most powerful car of the Z4 line-up is the Z4 M. It features a naturally aspirated, in-line six cylinder engine, used in the third generation of the BMW M3. It produces 340 bhp at 7900 rpm, and 365 nm (270 lb-ft) of torque. 0-100 km/h takes 5 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 250 km/h.

PORSCHE CARRERA GT

The Porsche Carrera GT is a mid-engined sports car that was manufactured by Porsche in Leipzig, Germany. It was nominated the fastest car of the year in 2005.

The development of the Carrera GT can be traced back to its predecessors, the 911 GT1 and LMP1-98 racing cars. Due in part to the FIA and ACO rule changes in 1998, both designs had ended. Porsche at the time had planned on a new Le Mans prototype for 1999. The car was initially intended to use a turbocharged flat-6, but was later redesigned to use a new V10 engine, pushing the project back to planned competition in 2000. The V10 was a unit secretly built by Porsche for the Footwork Formula One team in 1992, but later shelved.

The Carrera GT is powered by a 5.7 litre V10 engine producing 612 DIN (605 SAE) horsepower (450 kW) whereas the original concept car featured a 5.5 litre version rated at 558 hp (416 kW). Porsche claims it will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62.1 mph) in 3.9 seconds and has a maximum speed of 334 km/h (207 mph). The Carrera GT has large side inlets and air dams that help cool the large V10 framed by the carbon fiber rear hood. Fitted with Porsche's latest brake system, the 15 inch ceramic pad brakes make an impressive appearance underneath the 19 inch front and 20 inch rear wheels.

Notable technology includes a pure carbon fiber monocoque and subframe, dry sump lubrication and inboard suspension. The carbon fiber monocoque and subframe were produced and assembled by ATR Composites Group of Italy. The Carrera GT radiator is about five times the size of a 911 Turbo's. Unlike some of its rivals, the Carrera GT does not feature dynamic stability control, but it does have traction control. Porsche claims that over 75 technology patents have been filed during the development of the Carrera GT.

THE AUDI A4

The Audi A4 is a luxury compact executive car produced by the German automaker Audi since 1994. It is the successor of the Audi 80. It is available as an "Avant", Audi's name for a station wagon/estate car, a saloon/sedan, and a Cabriolet version.

The first-generation Audi A4 (known internally as the Typ 8D) was debuted by Audi in 1994 on the Volkswagen B5 platform, which it shared with the fourth generation Volkswagen Passat. It had a longitudinal engine and standard front-wheel drive, although many of the A4 owners selected the optional quattro four-wheel drive system. The A4 was initially introduced as a four-door saloon/sedan; the Avant (estate/wagon) arrived a year later. Audi refreshed the model in the 1997 Frankfurt Motor Show, with sales beginning in Europe in early 1998.

The second generation is An all-new A4, internally designated Typ 8E, debuted in late 2000, now riding on the all new Volkswagen B6 (PL46) platform. The car's new styling was inspired on the C5 (second-generation) Audi A6. The 1.6 L base model remained unchanged, but most other petrol/gasoline engines received either displacement increases, or power upgrades. Audi also introduced a continuously variable transmission developed by LuK, named Multitronic.

Audi introduced a heavily revised third generation of A4 in late 2004, with the internal designation of B7. However, this new range A4 still utilised the existing Volkswagen B6 (PL46) platform, a chassis derived from the outgoing B6, but enjoyed heavily revised steering settings, suspension geometry, new engine ranges, navigation systems and chassis electronics (a new advanced Bosch 8.0 ESP system).

Audi released the first official pictures of the B8 series as fourth generation of A4 in August 2007, and unveiled the car to the public at the September 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show. Saloon/sedan and Avant models are offered. The Avant was unveiled to the public at the March 2008 Geneva Auto Show. The B8 A4 substantially shares the same underpinnings as the Audi A5 coupé. Compared to prior A4 chassis, the front axle is moved forward with respect to the engine.

Cadillac was formed from the remnants of the Henry Ford Company when Henry Ford departed along with several of his key partners and the company was dissolved. With the intent of liquidating the firm's assets, Ford's financial backers, William Murphy and Lemuel Bowen called in engineer Henry M. Leland to appraise the plant and equipment prior to selling them. Instead, Leland persuaded them to continue the automobile business using Leland's proven 1-cylinder engine. Henry Ford's departure required a new name, and on August 22, 1902, the company reformed as the Cadillac Automobile Company.

CLASSIC CAR

Classic car is a term frequently used to describe an older car, but the exact meaning is subject to differences in opinion. Some are very inclusive, considering any older car in fine condition a classic. Others, including the "Concours d'Elegance" and the Classic Car Club of America maintain that 1948 is the last year for the true classics.

There is no fixed definition of a Classic car. Two taxation issues do impact however, leading to some people using them as cutoff dates. All cars built before 1 January 1973 are exempted from paying the annual road tax vehicle excise duty - this is then entered on the license disc displayed on the windscreen as "historic vehicle" (if a car built before this date has been first registered in 1973 or later, then its build date would have to be verified by a recognized body such as British Motor Heritage Foundation to claim tax free status). The government Revenue and Customs define a classic car for company taxation purposes as being over 15 years old and having a value in excess of £15,000.

Formula One or F1, is the highest class of open wheeled auto racing defined by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), motor sport's world governing body. The "formula" in the name is a set of rules which all participants and cars must meet. The F1 world championship season consists of a series of races, known as Grands Prix, held usually on purpose-built circuits, and in a few cases on closed city streets. The results of each race are combined to determine two annual World Championships, one for drivers and one for constructors.

The Formula One series has its roots in the European Grand Prix Motor Racing of the 1920s and 1930s. The "formula" is a set of rules which all participants and cars must meet. Formula One was a new formula agreed after World War II in 1946, with the first non-championship races being held that year. A number of Grand Prix racing organisations had laid out rules for a World Championship before the war, but due to the suspension of racing during the conflict, the World Drivers' Championship was not formalised until 1947. Bentley Motors Limited is an English manufacturer of luxury automobiles and Grand Tourers. Bentley Motors was founded in England on January 18, 1919 by Walter Owen Bentley, known as W.O. Mobile phone use while driving is common but controversial. Using a cellular telephone while operating a motor vehicle has been shown to increase the risk of accident. Because of this, many governments have made use a cell phone while driving illegal. A 1997 Canadian study and a 2005 Australian study both estimated the risk of a collision when using a cellular telephone was four times higher than the risk when a cellular telephone was not being used. 699 and 456 drivers, respectively, who owned phones, were involved in crashes, and volunteered for the studies were examined. By collecting volunteers' cell phone records, scientists were able to determine who placed telephone calls shortly before the time of crash, and through case-crossover analysis (a technique often used in medical studies of heart-attacks and air pollution) of cell phone habits, calculated the increase in risk. Both studies found that hands-free devices were not considerably safer.

A more traditional study method was used by the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) for their 2003 study. Questionnaires were sent to 175,000 drivers and analysis was done on the 36,078 who responded. The questionnaire asked about driving habits, risk exposure, collisions over the past 24 months, socio-demographic information, and cell phone use. Questionnaires were supported with data from cell phone companies and police crash records. The study found that the overall relative risk (RR) of having an accident for cell phone users when compared to non-cell phone users averaged 1.38 across all groups. When adjusted for kilometers driven per year and other crash risk exposures, RR was 1.11 for men and 1.21 for women. They also found that increased cell phone use correlated with an increase in RR.

The M998 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV or Humvee) is a military 4WD motor vehicle created by AM General. It has largely supplanted the roles formerly served by the M151 1/4 ton MUTT, the M561 "Gama Goat", their M718A1 and M792 ambulance versions, the CUCV, and other light trucks with the United States military, as well as being used by a number of other countries and organizations. Humvees were originally also referred to as Hummers, though that term was later reserved for a civilian SUV based on the Humvee.

There are at least 17 variants of the HMMWV in service with the United States armed forces. HMMWV serve as cargo/troop carriers, automatic weapons platforms, ambulances (four litter patients or eight ambulatory patients), M220 TOW missile carriers, M119 howitzer prime movers, M-1097 Avenger Pedestal Mounted Stinger platforms, MRQ-12 direct air support vehicles, S250 shelter carriers, and in other roles. It is capable of fording 2.5 ft (76 cm) normally, or 5 ft (1.5 m) with the deep-water fording kits installed. Optional equipment includes a winch (maximum load capacity 6000 lb. (2700 kg)), and supplemental armor. The M1025 and M1043/M1044 armament carriers provide mounting and firing capabilities for the MK19 grenade launcher, the M2 heavy machine gun, the M240G/B machine gun and M249 SAW. The newly introduced M1114 "up-armored" HMMWV also features a similar weapons mount. In addition, some M1114 and M1116 up-armored and M1117 Armored Security Vehicle models feature a CROWS (common remotely operated weapon station), which allows the gunner to operate from inside the vehicle.

A bus is a large road vehicle designed to carry numerous passengers in addition to the driver and sometimes a conductor. The name is a neologic version of the Latin omnibus, which means "for all". Bus services can fit into several classes. Local transit buses provide public transit within a city or one or more counties, usually for trips of only a few kilometers. Intercity, interstate or interprovincial buses provide transit between cities, towns, rural areas and places usually tens or hundreds of kilometers away. They generally provide fewer bus stops than local bus routes do. Trailways Transportation System is an example of US interstate bus systems. Mercedes was a brand of the Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft (DMG) which began to develop in 1900, after the death of its co-founder, Gottlieb Daimler. Although the name was not lodged as a trade name until June 23, 1902 and had to wait until September 26 to be registered legally, the brand name eventually would be applied to an automobile model built by Wilhelm Maybach to specifications by Emil Jellinek that was delivered to him on December 22, 1900. By Jellinek's contract, the new model contained a newly designed engine designated as, Daimler-Mercedes. This engine name is the first instance of the use of the name, Mercedes, by DMG. The automobile model would later be called, the Mercedes 35 hp.

An automobile dealer and racing enthuiast, Jellinek had been racing DMG automobiles on which he had the name—Mércédès—painted for good luck after his daughter, Mércédès Jellinek. Later he contracted with DMG for a small series of dedicated sports cars containing an engine that officially bore his daughter's name. He raced them very successfully, gaining recognition that increased interest in customers and Jellinek was placed on the board of directors of DMG. This model was a significant advancement in the history of automobiles. The model was released for sale in 1901 under the name of Mercedes 35 hp and, because of the success of the model, DMG began to apply the name as a series to other models such as, Mercedes 8/11 hp and Mercedes 40 hp Simplex. In 1994, poor economic circumstances at Chrysler forced them to sell Lamborghini to an Indonesian investment group headed by Tommy Suharto. These Indonesian owners sold the company in the late 1990s, also while suffering from poor economic circumstances. By then however, the German car company Audi AG had gained interest in the ailing Italian company, and in 1998, in a complex series of transactions, Audi AG became the sole owner of Automobili Lamborghini. Lamborghini's latest owner once again greatly influenced the design of its cars, such as today's Murcielago. Audi's vast technical resources helped produce one of Lamborghini's most sophisticated cars to date.

Lamborghini's outrageous supercar models have brought Lamborghini much fame. The Miura, the Countach, the Diablo, and the Murciélago, continue to be some of the most desired super cars of all time. The current (2007) range consists of the Murciélago LP640, the Murciélago LP640 Roadster and the smaller, less expensive Gallardo, Gallardo Spyder and Gallardo Superleggera. All are extremely fast, mid-engined 2-seaters with Lamborghini's standard all-wheel drive systems. Their styling is largely the work of Belgian designer Luc Donckerwolke. Future models may include a rear-wheel-drive version of the Gallardo and possibly an SUV in the spirit of the LM002. The next generation of Lamborghini models will be penned by Walter de'Silva, who designed the 2006 Miura concept car and who replaced Luc Donckerwolke as head of Centro Stile Lamborghini, Lamborghini's in-house design department. Many countries require the reporting and collection of road traffic accident statistics. Although the type of information collected differs between jurisdiction, this enables a figure to be produced for personal injuries and deaths to be produced, and correlated against a range of circumstances. It is then possible to attempt to group these circumstances in order to infer a cause, or causes for sets of accidents.

It has long been recognized that there may be a combination of factors, such as road conditions, weather environment, driver actions, sleepy driver or pedestrian actions, that contribute to an accident or road death. Jaguar made its name in the 1950s with a series of elegantly-styled sports cars and luxury saloons. The company bought the Daimler car company (not to be confused with Daimler-Benz), in 1960 from Birmingham Small Arms Company (BSA). An antique car is generally defined as a car over 25 years of age, this being the definition used by the most organizations worldwide. 25 years is about double the design life of modern cars and an even greater increment on those cars now 25 years old; therefore, a car that's reached 25 is a rare survivor, and probably not economic to maintain as regular transportation. However, the legal definition for the purpose of antique vehicle registration varies widely. The term classic car is often used synonymously with antique car, but the formal definition of that term has it as applying only to certain specific high-quality vehicles from the pre-World War II era.

Some consider such collectables be a form of investment. Buying a particular antique car is then done primarily in view of profit in a future sale and not of enjoying a drive or taking pleasure in restoration work. Honda Jazz or Honda Fit is a five-door hatchback automobile produced by Honda of Japan, that was first introduced in June 2001. In Indonesia this vehicle is known as Honda Jazz while outside Indonesia, this vehicle is known as the Fit in Japan, China, and in both North and South America. It is also called the Jazz in Europe, some parts of Asia, Australia, Oceania, the Middle East, and Africa.

In keeping with Honda's safety initiative, the Fit is offered in North America with standard side airbags, side-curtain airbags, and ABS, in addition to the mandatory front airbags. Due to differing safety regulations, North American Fits have larger bumpers than the rest of the world, resulting in a slight increase in overall length.

The Toyota Kijang is a pick-up or minibus sold in Indonesia and Brunei, made by Toyota. "Kijang" means deer in Indonesian. Kijang was first introduced in Indonesia in 1977 and it has become the most popular car in the country ever since. It is relatively affordable in the markets where sold when compared to four-wheel drive vehicles (the Kijang is a two-wheel drive) and features high seating capacity, large ground clearance and rugged suspension, popular features in an area with generally poor road quality and large extended families.

Motorcycles have a higher rate of fatal accidents than automobiles. The two major causes of motorcycle accidents in the United States are: motorists pulling out or turning in front of motorcyclists and violating their rights-of-way and motorcyclists running wide through turns.

Ferrari has used the cavallino rampante on official company stationery since 1929. Since the Spa 24 Hours race of July 9, 1932, the cavallino rampante has been used on Alfa Romeos raced by Scuderia Ferrari. The famous symbol of the Ferrari race team is a black prancing stallion on a yellow shield, usually with the letters S F (for Scuderia Ferrari), with three stripes of green, white and red (the Italian national colors) at the top. The road cars have a rectangular badge on the hood (see picture above) and this race logo on the side. In Indonesia, Ferrari is consider as a very exclusive car and not many Indonesian people can have it, but still some Ferrari can be found in Java.

BMW is an independent German automobile manufacturer. BMW is one of the world's leading performance-luxury manufacturers of cars and motorcycles, along with being the parent company of the MINI and Rolls-Royce car brands. BMW was officially founded as a public company in 1922, but traces its origins to the pioneering days of German aviation all the way back to 1913. Two of these pioneering men, Karl Rapp and Gustav Otto, are credited by BMW as the "founding fathers". However, the company was actually founded by three men: Josef Popp, Max Friz, and Camillo Castiglioni. These men brought BMW through many turbulent times in the company's early life, as well as taking the company public in 1922 to form BMW AG.

BMW AG produced a variety of products in its early years, eventually shifting to motorcycle production in 1923 and automobiles in 1929. The circular blue and white BMW logo, which has not been altered throughout the company's history, does not in fact symbolise a spinning propeller according to a BMW spokesman (although the imagery did appear in post-WWI advertisements). The BMW roundel badge is believed to have been partially derived from the logo of its predecessor company Rapp Motorenwerke, while ultimately taking on the colours and checkers of the Bavarian flag. Significant aircraft powerplants of pre-WWII and WWII included the BMW 132 and BMW 801 air-cooled radial engines, and the pioneering BMW 003 axial-flow turbojet. BMW's factories were damaged badly in the war, and many surviving machine tools were confiscated by the victorious Allies.

BMW has become concerned with the rising number of their vehicles being imported from the United States into Canada and with the cooperation of the Registrar of Imported Vehicles (a private contractor to the federal Government of Canada) has placed impediments to the importation of BMW vehicles into Canada. All BMW dealers in the United States and Canada are now forbidden from printing vehicle history reports that list warrantee work that has been performed as well as the status of any safety recalls and supplying this document to the legal owners of the vehicles. Owners of BMW vehicles are considered to be a "third party" to information regarding the safety of BMW products. BMW now requires owners importing their cars into Canada to pay a fee of $300 (CDN) for a document guaranteeing the vehicle's admissibility into Canada and $500 (CDN) for a letter advising the Registrar of Imported Vehicles that there are no outstanding recalls on that vehicle.

Porsche AG, or often shortened to Porsche, is a German manufacturer of automobiles majority owned by the Austrian Porsche and Piëch families. It was founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche, an Austro-Hungarian engineer, born in Maffersdorf (Vratislavice), Bohemia (now part of the Czech Republic) who also designed the first Volkswagen. The company is headquartered in Zuffenhausen, a city district of Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg. They currently produce 911 (997), Boxster, and Cayman sports cars and Cayenne sport utility vehicles.

Porsche was awarded the title of the most prestigious automobile brand by Luxury Institute, New York; it questioned more than 500 households with a gross annual income of at least US $200,000 and a net worth of at least US $720,000 in May 2006 survey. The current Porsche lineup includes sports cars from the Boxster roadster to their most famous product, the 911. The Cayman is a hard top car similar to the Boxster in a slightly higher price range. The Cayenne is Porsche's mid-size luxury SUV. The Carrera GT supercar was phased out in May 2006. Future plans include a high performance luxury saloon/sedan, the Panamera.

Porsche was awarded the 2006 J.D. Power and Associates award for highest Nameplate Initial Quality Study (IQS) of automobile brands. As a company, Porsche is known for weathering changing market conditions with great financial stability, while retaining most production in Germany during an age when most other German car manufacturers have moved at least parts of their production to Eastern Europe or overseas.

Porsche has for many years offered consultancy services to various other car manufacturers. Studebaker, SEAT, Daewoo, Subaru and Yugo have consulted Porsche on engineering for their cars or engines. The Lada Samara was partly developed by Porsche in 1984. Porsche also helped Harley-Davidson design their new engine in their newer V-Rod motorcycle.

Audi AG is a German automobile manufacturer and one of the world's leading performance-luxury marque with headquarters in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, and has been an almost wholly-owned (99.7%) subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group since 1964. Audi company evolved from VW's takeover of both Auto Union, and NSU, the former having incorporated the historic Audi company which was founded in 1910.

Audi corporate tagline is Vorsprung durch Technik, meaning "Advancement through Technology" or "Head Start through Technology". This German-language tagline is also used in other European countries, including the UK, and in other markets, such as Latin America, Oceania and parts of Asia including Japan. The American and Canadian tagline is "Truth in Engineering".

Audi started with a 2612 cc (2.6 liter) four cylinder model followed by a 3564 cc (3.6 L) model, as well as 4680 cc (4.7 L) and 5720 cc (5.7L) models. These cars were successful even in sporting events. August Horch left the Audi company in 1920. The first six cylinder model, 4655 cc (4.7 L) appeared in 1924. In 1928, the company was acquired by Jørgen Rasmussen, owner of DKW. In the same year, Rasmussen bought the remains of the US automobile manufacturer, Rickenbacker, including the manufacturing equipment for eight cylinder engines. These engines were used in Audi Zwickau and Audi Dresden models that were launched in 1929. At the same time, six cylinder and four cylinder (licensed from Peugeot) models were manufactured. Audi cars of that era were luxurious cars equipped with special bodywork.
